In case anyone wondering why D is not correct :\ . D is not correct because it has verb 'have' which denotes perfect whereas the verb phrase it is referring to is in present tense :) , hence 'DO' is correct to use here.

Re: In an effort to fill the stadium, the management of the ball [#permalink]
I read one similar ques in OG a well, but I could not figure out which part is to be added in the second part of the sentence(the words which are eclipsed in the second part).

In an effort to fill the stadium, the management of the ball club has cut admission prices; tickets have now been priced to sell, and they are.
However, this sentence is incorrect, but if we complete the second part

it will be
they are priced to sell

or
they are sell

Zarrolou tried to complete the hidden words in each choice, but in one choice he used "sell" while in another choice, he used " priced to sell"; moreover, both choices has the same construction for second part

B. are now priced to sell, and they have (sell)
E. have now been priced to sell, and they have ( priced to sell )

In a parallel structure, it is alright to omit a word from the second element of the structure, if the word is already there in the first element.

Option B: tickets are now priced to sell, and they have (sold).
The word "sold" does not occur in the first element of the structure, and hence it cannot be omitted. Hence B is wrong.

Option D and E can also be eliminated on the above basis. Similarly option A can be eliminated because the omitted word "selling" is not present in the first element.

Option C: There is no omission here. The verb "do" correctly replaces the word "sell" present in the first element.
