Hey guys,

Have you considered HEC Paris as an alternative? I mean if you have been accepted already then of course INSEAD is an amazing option but I think HEC Paris offers an interesting proposition and I would definitely recommend it as a European option if INSEAD or LBS seem hard to crack. Fees are 12K less (48000€) and a scholarship of up to 24K, for good candidates that would have realistic hopes of admission to INSEAD, would not be hard to get, lowering the total cost of fees down to 24K! HEC is considered to be the best business school ever in France (due to its Masters program and not the MBA in particular but the brand is strong nonetheless throughout Europe as can also be seen in FT European business school rankings). Furthermore, the HEC MBA has been revamped in 2012 with the help of Bain & Company and also is housed in a brand new building and should be going up in the rankings in the next few years as it is actively aiming to stand in the top 3 MBA programs in Europe and top 10 in the world. Finally, there are some interesting double degree options, for example you can do 10 months at HEC (for reduced 36K tuition) and 9 months at MIT Sloan and get two degrees (an MBA from HEC and an MSMS from MIT). So, if you have not looked into it seriously, I suggest you do. I am a big INSEAD fan but I think HEC should at least be your #1 backup choice.

Good luck with your results and studies!

P.S. their admissions process is the fastest there is (many admission deadlines throughout the year, couple of weeks for preselection decision and couple of weeks for final decision after the interviews), about 5-6 weeks all together I think.

My spam folder is checked regularly few times a day: clear as my soul:)

I had a look on forum for previous intake and noticed that some guys received notification 3 weeks after submission.
It gave me some relief, and also seeing that I'm not the only one who didn't get now also helped.

I wrote to mbacandidates e-mail a question, but no reply so far.

I guess I am really late in making a decision. Thinking of applying for Jan 14 intake. I have essentially 30 days to do with the application as I would be away on assignment in May. Do you think it would be feasible to do the essays in a month ?

I also applied for the first time. It took me about 2 months to fine tune my essays. However, more or less ready drafts were finished after 1 month of preparation.

How many hours in a day you spent on average ? Can the recos be submitted later or they have to go before the deadline ?

I spent about 1-2 hours a day actually writing and rewriting. But, more important, is the time you recall your accomplishments and other stories you want to show in your application. Do not underspend time for this. I would suggest to budget at least 20-30% of your time till the deadline to prepare an overall strategy of how you want to position yourself and only after that start writing.

As for the recos, I arranged mine far in advance so that my recommenders were on time.
