The question includes subject/verb agreement and comparison elements. The verb disprove/s needs to agree in number with the subject of the sentence. The subject is a bit difficult to identify here because it's not a single word. The subject of the sentence is the entire beginning section: 'That young girls score as well if not better than young boys on standardized tests '. This 'subject' represents a singular concept - the scoring of women compared to men - so we need the singular verb disproves (singular verbs have the 's'). For the comparison, we need the second 'as' in order to present the comparison correctly - 'as well as'.

A) missing 'as' and should be disproves
B) missing 'as'
C) correct
D) should be disproves
E) missing 'as' and should be disproves and the construction of the first part 'the fact of girls' scoring' is awkward and lacks clear meaning

rightly put the moment i saw singular subject i had boiled down to B and C .B is missing that "as" hence C

When a sentence starts with "that" always read it as - "The fact that", and the verb used should be "disporves" (s or es is added to verb when subject is singular)

Option A, D and E are out as they use "disprove".

Choose option C over B because it uses "as well as", whereas "as" is missing in option "B".

Hence option "C" is correct!

these questions will confuse test takers at first; some will eventually lose time because of this kind of questions

That young girls scores as well as.... .. in the standardised test is an entire clause acting as a subject and hence singular. we use disapproves ( singular verb) therefore c.
