observation [#permalink]
my observation is
[(verbal score +quantscore)/120]*1000=GMAT score

for eg v=42
q=45

then GMAT [(42+45)/120]*1000=(87/120)*1000
=0.725*1000
=725
~720
i have tried this on all combinations

this is just an observation

Are Kaplan materials more difficult and are the scores generally lower in comparison to the actual GMAT?

I dont think thats a valid formula, as if you enter results over 50 for both scores ie V50 Q50 the total score exceeds 800 :? Anyone haves a clue as to what the formula is for calculating the score?Any chance that its based not only on the score but also on the amount of easy/hard questions?

Having looked quickly at the percentile distributions I would guess it is more like (though it doesn't quite work at the extreme ends):

GMAT = 5*(v+q) + 260

new kaplan CAT scores!? [#permalink]
I was just informed by Kaplan that starting yesterday they are now using a new scoring system for their CAT's and have adjusted any recently taken CAT's to reflect this new scoring system (in most cases significantly LOWERING the score). For example my 680 went down to a 590! Does the score estimate calculator take this change into effect? Does anyone know how this new lower score will translate into an actual score for the GMAT? Thanks!

Seeing the 680 go to a 590 was a huge disappointment to say the least :?

In an e-mail. So I called Kaplan to confirm and they did.

Scores from previous tests taken online were automatically adjusted to the new scoring system (in all cases lowered significantly).
