Sudarshan you have a good profile and one that should be competitive in the top 20 for sure. Although one group or "bucket" you will be placed in will be the Indian applicant pool, you actually will stand out in that pool because of your experience, but the challenge may come when you get lumped into the finance bucket, which is also very crowded. I think your GMAT score will help and you actually have a good connection between your past and your desired future. I-banks love to hire folks with top GMAT scores and market validation. Be careful with the Private Equity goal, since it's widely known that PE firms don't hire many freshly minted MBAs--just something to keep in mind as you formulate your plan. AS for schools, it kinda depends on where you want to work. If it's i-banking on the street, then certainly Columbia, NYU, Booth, Duke, Virginia come to mind as of course HBS and Wharton of course. The latter two are always a crap shoot even for the "most" qualified candidates just due to sheer volume of applications. Best for all schools if you keep it interesting and include unusual achievements along with the typical career stuff. For example, the dramatics jump out as something a bit out of the ordinary. The CFA is good too--everyone knows how tough that is to get so you would come with real skills to help your classmates who come from non-finance world for sure. This is always important to demonstrate in an application. Let us know if we can help.
