hi. for quite sometime i have been hearing about Yale SOM. Quite a few ppl say that the School Of Management at Yale isnt anything like the top schools in the same cluster. i am surprised as well as a lil confused too. i would like Linda to comment on it. is it true that YAle University's brand name far exceeds the expectations that one has from YAle SOM. (i know for sure that a lotta students who have been accepted at ellogs or othe rtop schools have got a reject from SOM. its tough to get into SOM i believe)

How do the recruiters rate YAle SOM.

# further i wanted to know according to u linda wht shud be the chronology of these schools
1) Yale SOM
2) Simon school of business (University of Rochester)
3) USC Marshall
4) Univ. Of Washington @St.Louis ( Olin school of business)
5) Warrington ( univ. of Florida)
6) University of Rice
7) Vanderbilt (Owen school of buz)

now I now its a subjective question but I would lie to get ur opinion on these questions.

I'm answering for Linda. It's true that Yale SOM benefits from its association with the university, especially overseas, but it is a strong program, especially in strategy and finance. In fact, according to WSJ, corporate recruiters ranked Yale #6 among B-schools for excellence in strategy and #8 in finance.

Since you didn't state your goals I assume you just want a general sense of how these 7 programs "rank" in some overall sense. In that case:

1) Yale
2) USC
3) Rochester Simon
4) Washington Olin
5) Vanderbilt Owen
6) Florida (Warrington)
7) Rice

Hi,

Oh. I forgot to mention my goals.

1) I wanted to major in finance and then get into i-banking(equities). So i would want a school that is well connected with this industry. then he alumnis are also working for i-banks.

2) about USC a few ppl ha mentioed that is a strong programe and preferd more so in the SC(south california) but out side the SC it isnt that greatly prefered. wht are ur takes on that ?

3) besides i just checked the site of vanderbilt. they seem to have a lotta I-banks recruiting there. so wouldnt u consider vanderblt a better choice than USC. whts ur take ?

I agree that USC's reputation beyond the West Coast is limited, more so than Haas and probably UCLA.

Yes, given your goals, of the schools you mentioned financial services industry recruiters hire larger percentages of graduates from Yale and Vanderbilt than from any of the others. Other schools ranked highly by financial services recruiters include UNC, GWU, Wake Forest, Western Ontario, and Thunderbird, among others.
