Hi Linda/Paul,
Thot I wud let u know that I have pretty much decided on Wharton over Chicago GSB. If u have any feedback on this decision, plz feel free to share.
Now I have been doing some thinking recently abt what I wanna do post MBA becose I hear that it is better to have the firm idea because it is easy to get swayed by other's decisions (like hoards of ppl going in for IB). My long term goal is to become a CEO of a company, so sooner I can start on that route better it is.
Short term I have been thinking of going to MC route and then switch to gen mgmt corporate after few yrs. I was wondering if u cud guide me thro this dilemma. Because of limited knowledge I have abt careers choices and what those choices mean in the long term, I am in a fix. Do u know any good books etc where I can find short-term and long term aspects of different careers like IB, MC, GenMgmt etc? Most of the guides I have read they talk abt only short term aspects like salary etc. I wanna find out what should be my first step after MBA in order to move towards my long term goal without wasting anytime by doing something else for short-term.
Thanks in advance for ur help....
Banerjeea_98,
Sorry for the delayed response. You have enviable dilemma -- Wharton or Chicago -- which should work out well for you however you resolve it. Regarding career guides to help you work out your post-MBA plan, I recommend the Harvard Business School Career Guides and the Vault Career Guides. Both are very meaty and authoritative.
Good luck!
