= p^3 + [p^2(1-p)] + [p(1-p)(p/2)] + [(1-p)(p/2)p]
= p^3 + p^2-p^3 + 2p(1-p)(p/2)
= p^2 + p^2(1-p)
= p^2 + p^2 - p^3
= 2 p^2 - p^3
