ftoor,

Congrats on your score.

I passed Level III last May (or was it June?).

You can PM me with any CFA q's, but you have to forgive if I have forgotten the answers...

(Oh, and you too, Paul)

Regards,
Stoolfi, CFA

Not sure-- in my case (Liberal arts major, bad undergrad grades) it may lighten a couple of red flags (turning them pink, maybe?). Rumor is that only about half of AdComms know how time-consuming and challenging it is; the other half think it's a CFP or something. So, I hope so, and I believe it shows a dedication to the business, which is allegedly important at schools like Chicago, MIT and Wharton, which claim to emphasize "maturity". I think the Stanfords and Kelloggs of the world don't much care.

But it's all idle speculation from me-- I don't really know.

I have a weak undergrad, so did the CFA thing to counter balance it. To some point the CFA does not hold that much wait compared to a person going to night classes as getting As in calculus and statistics. But if you apply to a MBA program that concentrates in Investment Managment like Chicago, you can spin it on how you want to do IM and you are so serious about it that you already started the CFA process.

Thank you very much guys for your replies. I did my CFA 2 in 2 so far and seriously intend to complete it this year. I am in the same situation as both of you guys are with a weak undergrad. However, I will also become a Fellow of Canadian Securities Institute this year and hope to apply to a local MSc program this year. I hope that with an MSc in finance, where I will brush up my grades, I will enhance my chances to go to Bschool and will compensate for my weaker work experience. Definitely a top B-school more finance enclined would be better ( ie Wharton/Chicago ) but I also thought of going to some b-school abroad which are only 1 year programs and also give you international focus ( ie INSEAD/LSB ). Thank you again for your inputs

Re: 670 89% in Verbal and 71% in Quant [#permalink]

Believe it or not, I have a CPA and a CFA Level III candidate and my verbal shows that I should have been a writer!

Anyways this place did help a lot, the most benefical was reading how other people studied. There is no one formula. Just do questions and relax in the test.

Bascially I sat down and said bad_word_used it when I took the test. The good thing is that I can improve my quant, I probably made some careless errors.

Another improtant note, the GMAT is not everything, it is just a part of your application. Of course a high one is great, especially for the school's rankings. But if you are a 740 and cannot hold a conversation and act like a introvert, you are not going to a top school.

I may take the test again, but right now I am on the application hell train.

But yeah, this website did help a lot. It made you realize that ANYONE can ace this... you just got to have "the want"

Cheers

Congratualtions on your great score....ftoor.Im pretty sure you are much more than this....once u ramp up your quant scores...your score would go over the roof.Would be grateful if you could share your insights on how to tackle RC.

Vivek.

I used this as a guideline for RC and other strategies [#permalink]

For RC, I took notes. And I think I was lucky. I liked reading the RC passages in the test and they were short 30-60 lines. Nothing in the 75 line range at all.
