This may be a really silly question, but why would someone want to get a second MBA?

If I remember correctly, Indra Nooyi, the current CEO of Pepsi got 2 MBAs. First one from an Indian institute and second one from Yale.

I also came across a candidate who got an MBA already, and went to Insead for second one. He is in McKinsey now.

There can be different reasons for second MBA:

1. Not happy with current career progress with 1st MBA. So one might attempt something new.
2. International career possible with a top school MBA degree.
3. In some countries MBA is just another degree. It does not have any practical orientation and students hardly learn any skills that are helpful in real marketplace. They might realize after working for some years that an MBA from a top school is helpful.
4. Shifting careers. Getting into MC or IB without right lineage is not easy.
5. Some derive fun out of degree collection
