Hate to post these generic 'rate my chances' but im a bit nervous.
Just applied to Cornell 2 year MBA R2
Undergrad gpa, not so good 2.7, at Cornell.
Gmat 760.
Solid work experience, IT ofcourse.
Feel like my essays were strong.

Any input?

hey sujith,

you urself admitted that u hate posting this generic post.. :o then i think you shud have posted some more about yourself..

Well, the truth is give a bigger picture of your profile.. It will help you get a "better" opinion of your chances.. Nobody can tell your chances with just mere statisitcs!! It will help if you give your career goals, your background etc;

Anyways, I am not applyin to cornell.. but there are some cornell R1 hotshots here.. Mark, swgotz, rhyme.. they can surely help you.. so better start writing big :-D

We are going to find out at the end of this week man... I will post admit or ding the results and I hope my Cornell fellow apps will as well. I have a somewhat more atypical profile: liberal arts background, finance but not where I want to be in finance, some good leadership and work experience, and compelling need for an MBA if I want to get where I want to go. I have a 680 GMAT as I didn't perform as well in the quant but scored 97 percentile in the verbal, 3.5 GPA from a top school, and CFA Level 1 to try to compensate for lower quant. Ryme may be a bit closer to your profile. Certainly your GMAT is solid. Flesh out what makes you a good canidate... Leadership, why you want to get an MBA, why Cornell and why now... That sort of stuff really is important.

I've spoken with a few alum's who also did their undergrad @ Cornell, so I get the impression that the Ad/Com likes these applicants.

I would think your strong GMAT offsets your GPA; so as long as your essays present a compelliing picture I think your chances are pretty good.

One concern Cornell has is that people use them as a back-up school. They are also concerned that people will not want to travel to their remote location. Since you attended undergrad there, they will probably not have these concerns about your application.

Your GPA is slightly below their middle 80%, but your GMAT is well above the middle 80%. I would guess that you are competitive, but not a shoo-in. If you have strong work experience and activities and execute well on your essays you should have a good shot.

For comparisons sake, I was a 3.0 gpa and 730 gmat. I got an interview invite.
