Hey everyone,
My gmat exam is on Tuesday - Wish me luck...cuz I will need it :madd

I have been taking Kaplan practice Cats on their 2003 CD. I'll take test 4 tomorrow, and Powerprep 1 and 2 on Sunday and Monday respectively.

I'm posting the three test scores from Kaplan so far, and I'll update it daily up untill Test Day.
Your thoughts are always welcome and encouraged.

Kaplan T1
540 (Q - 30, V - 28)
Kaplan T2
540 ( Q - 32, V - 30)
Kaplan T3
540 (Q - 27, V - 31)

Am I consistent, or is the cd "f-ing" with me?

Look forward to hearing from you guys.

Mr. Sunny,

my first several tests with Kaplan were 540 - I think that's some score that the CD gives to everyone. I never managed to go beyond 620 or 640. I took my last Kaplan just a few days before the test and just a day before the test I got 740 on Power Prep, so there is about a 100 point difference, i would claim.

You are looking into about 650 I think... Do you have other results? Try them here: https://www.gmatclub.com/gcq/SE/

Thanks, Paul Anand, BB, & Praet

Just took my powerprep 1 today. (see above for score) I haven't touched the OG since December 2003...so the questions were fairly new to me.

I'm not too confident in giving poweprep too much authority on replicating my score on actual test day, cuz I know as most of you do that PowerPrep is far easier than the actual test.
What are your thoughts?

sunniboy,
Good Luck with your gmat. I have seen many people getting a score closer to powerprep than kaplan.

Sonni:

You might have had different experiences but IMO, Power Preps are extremely close to your score. According to your Kaplan Scores I would predict an early to mid 600 score. I too think you should study probability and Stat material well as they do tend to show up early and if you can answer them, they can boost your scores considerably.

Good luck, I think you'll do just fine.

I think you can add 100 to your kaplan average score to predict your final score. Good luck on your exam. Dont worry .. just go over a small selection of material you may have sidemarked for the final day. forget the tests now and relax.

ok, folks. First, Thanks to all of you for your words of encouragment.
I took the exam today. I am dissapointed with the outcome here it is:
Today:
570 (Q - 34, V - 35)

Previous attempts:
480 (Q - 29, V - 27)
510 (Q - 31, V - 30)

Thoughts:
I know I screwed up on a few math problems. There was a std dev question ,and range which threw me off a little - cuz I drew a blank on this question. There was a simple Perm/Comb question that I could not get my answer to match any other options. Bloody weird that was!
It may be just me, but it seemed like I got more DS questions than I usually have. It felt like half the entire quant section was DS. That was bloody weird too!
Verbal was so so, I had four RC - two of which were back 2 back. They were not that complex, but RC is not my strong suit...I'll have to get better at that before I take the LSAT.
SC were longer than OG (which is not uncommon at all)
CR were nothing unusual.

In previous exams, I had serious timing issues. After 4 or five practice cats, it seems to have fixed the problem. I had time to spare on both quan and verbal. Not sure if this is a good thing considering my low score.

Your thoughts and comments are of course always welcome

I think you are there.

Your verbal score is good. Here is my suggestion : Practice more RCs and develop strategies. I believe you can easily improve quant. Stop thinking about the questions u didnt get. If you do that then other questions will be affected.

So far so good Sunni. You are certainly on your way to get an ever increasing score. With a bit more work on quant, which IMO is the easiest of the two sections that you can increase, you will get what you want. The quant questions that you posted were rather tough. I thought it should have given you a higher quant score. Your verbal is very good as it is.

Thanks guys. I am surprised my verbal score increased, since I had not studied Verbal since december of last year. I was primarily studying quan. It didn't increase as much as i had wanted.

sunni, you have a very good verbal raw score. If you increase just few more points in quant you will surely hit high 600s. I think you need to take few basic math books and solve them back to back. I always find it easy to practice math than sit and do a rc. don't give it up. we can all do it.
