That was last week. I haven't opened the files since.

I have no motivation anymore.

I'm in the same boat. I find myself doing the absolute minimum work such that I won't burn any bridges and won't lose recommendations.

Are the opinions of pre-MBA managers that important in the post-MBA job hunt? I've read that many large companies these days have established a policy of only confirming start/end dates and not commenting on the employee's actual performance. That would mean I could take my slacking to a whole new level.... the possibilities.....

A good question that has no short answer but if I had to give you the short and skinny:

Ranked in order of preference:

1. Strategy oriented role for a startup type firm or established mid sized company. Or better yet, entrepreneurial 100%.

2. Consulting

3. Janitor

4. IB

This is basically true. Now, my firm, for instance, tells only three things. Dates, salary and whether or not you are "eligible for rehire". That means you weren't fired.

Its impossible for me to concentrate at work right now... I wish I could check gmatclub during the day... but..

I work for a very conservative southern regional bank..i.e....they monitor our internet usage and produce a 'top 10 list every month'...no lie...

ahh!!...stupid merger...we recently merged w/ another large bank. Since I work in operations..we're pretty swamped..

7/12/07 is our next big date..its our first wave of customer conversions..I'm thinking about leaving the day before(If I get in somewhere)...=)

work sucks!..oh wait..not it doesn't..i want to go to bschool..right?

So does mine. In fact, they monitor everything.

You can reports on

* What webpages were visited, and when, including for how long
* How many "banned" webpages you tried to visit and when and what
* If anything, including simple little ActiveX controls were installed
* The number of mpeg / mp3 / avi files you've opened, including locally (im not kidding)
* Failure to connect to the network to perform these scans disables your port
* Wireless cards are removed from the laptops
* A list of every file on your machine, including software that doesnt require an install (i.e. putty.exe)

that's tight! I can access the forum from work, although if I do so too frequently I risk being reported to my boss.

There are some blocked sites, of course, and some ports such as the ones required to chat, etc. But that's pretty much it.
