Me, 25, female. GMAT will be avail (hopefully) on Sept. 8th.

Regarding GPA... I still don't know how to convert. I graduated from UNSW, Australia, moderate transcript. Anyone knows how to calculate GPA from Ozzie's normal transcript, please do share with me.

Btw, Cornell hasn't open its Online Application, has it? And the essay questions are nowhere to be found...

Step on the boat - Cornell says the 08 app page will open from Fall 2007. It is anybody's best guess what date that might be. I am thinking anytime around the first week of september.

The error is not your computer setting - the fall 08 application cant be accessed coz its not open yet.

Thanks. I understand that. I expect it to open in September too (read it in other Master Degree's page).

If someone is applying under the Graduate School, not the Johnson School, it's there all the time.

Statement of purpose: A one- or two-page statement stating your reasons for undertaking graduate work, as well as an explanation of your academic interests, including their relation to your undergraduate study and professional goals. Include your full name and your proposed field of study at the top of each page.

yeah, looking back at grad school applications, the statement of purpose is SOOOO easy compared to B-school. I wrote mine in one night. ;)

that's so funny -- almost 6 years ago, ndhlp was applying to grad school at cornell in life sciences, and it was the exact same essay. No wonder he thought I was out of my head with all the stuff i was doing for b-school. They do say the hardest part is getting in.

Just looking at the numbers, Cornell has excellent placements stats. But the one frightening part was that a large percentage get jobs/internships not from on campus recruiting, but via other means.

I'm a little nervous about how their placement stats would be if it were just on-campus recruiting. Or is that the case with all bschools?

I wonder how well Cornell would be ranked if they were located in NYC, or even some other major city.

Is it just me or is the 2008 application STILL not up? Considering the first round deadline is very early October, you'd think they'd have it up already.

Anyone at least know the essays so I could get started on those?

Man this is furstrating, I had alloted this time for cornell app....
I doubt they are going to leave the deadline at 10 Oct. this time ...
Did anyone email these guys about it ..? I'll call them tomorrow sure thing ..

Cornell wont open up the 08 applications until some time in September 07. It is anyone's guess which day that will be. I will consult my astrologer. :wink:

It's probably a pretty safe bet that you'll have the "Why MBA, Why Cornell" essay. Last year's limit was 400 words. It's fairly unlikely you'll be wasting your time if you start on that.

Also, unless they've changed, you need to order a transcript from your school - unofficial is fine - so that you can type your transcript into their excel sheet. It's a pain the arse, and I actually outsourced it!

At any rate, order that transcript!

Yeah, it was rough. I think I started out with 1000 words and worked my way down.

I learned a lot about saying more with less during that process. Namely, I am too darn verbose and cutting things down usually leads to a leaner, more pointed essay. On the other hand, once you get too low, you do start to lose meaning. Another school (Duke or maybe Yale) had a 500-word limit for the same essay, and that felt much better.
