How important is this question? I mean they are demanding too much from recommenders. Aren't they?

I'm not too sure. It all depends on what they write, it can get blurred from one answer to the next.

And yes, I think they ask too much of the recommenders.

They do ask for too much of recommenders.

What if they actually think you are the top 2 % but then decide not to click 2 % becasue they don't want to write more stuff.

I think this whole recommendation letter is all BS.

But think about it from the schools perspective. Almost every recommender will say 2% irrespective of where the applicant stands. By having them justify a 2% rating, Cornell hopes to reduce the number of meaningless 2% ratings which basically have no substance.

OR

It could just separate the recommender with time on their hands and the recommender without time on their hands.

Or separate those that wrote their own letters and those that didn't

It's the home stretch.

I think I might submit today. I was planning on submitting on Tuesday, but that might be cutting it.

Everytime I look at my essays, I always change something.

2 more days for R1. I'm in for R2.

Cornell's Oct 10 is so early compared to many other Universities' deadlines. Vanderbilt and Brandeis R1 is on Nov 15, while Nov 14 is Cornell's R2.

November will be my crazy month of the year. I'm still in the middle of nowhere now. Guys, good luck.

I'm hoping this works in R1 applicant's favor.

They were pretty late in putting up their application online, so hopefully they see R1 people's dedication.

I believe they ask for the official transcripts only when you are admitted..you are free to send'em before though :)

I believe in the education section of the application, they say that internationals cannot use the template. Internationals have to send in official docs.

Looking at the posters username, I would hazard a guess that he/she is international.

Erase any words that are less than 3 letters. They'll understand you and really think that you are unique because of the one-of-a-kind essay.

just kidding.

Cutting 140 words is going to be tough.

I have an email from them saying attested photocopies of my indian transcripts will work, thats what I have sent them...pasted it down

Photocopies are fine for application review purposes. Official copies will
be required should you receive an offer of admission.
