I am not strong in SC, English is not my native language. :-D , but I will try...
a. that creatures of the seabed were suffering from dwindling food supplies, possibly resulting from increasing
This part looks wrong to me, to me use of ing and ing - is incorrect. So it should be either possibly resulted from increasing or possibly resulting from increase

My thought was ..you cannot suffer from shortage of food. you suffer because there was a shortage of food.
