For the life of me, I dont remember the name of the calculus course that I took in college. There are 4 math courses on my engineering transcripts and about zillion other quantitative subjects like thermodynamics, operational research...blah blah blah.

Of the 4 math courses, the 1st 3 are very originally named as Math 1, Math 2 and Math 3 :-(

The other course is "Numerical Methods". I sort of remember doing a bunch of integrals, differential stuff in the NM course and am inclined to put my grades in this course for the "calculus score" question.

Comments or suggestions?

Is n't the title of the course important?

For example, we use some statistical tools in economics courses. In that case are we eligible to mention economics courses as statistics courses?

Well, its a pure math course. its not economics or anything. Interestingly, wiki lists the following as "areas of study" for NM.

2 Areas of study
2.1 Computing values of functions
2.2 Interpolation, extrapolation and regression
2.3 Solving equations and systems of equations
2.4 Solving eigenvalue or singular value problems
2.5 Optimization
2.6 Evaluating integrals
2.7 Differential equations

I remember doing all of these.

Keep those comments coming. I am trying to get hold of one of my classmates to get hold of a detailed syllabus description.

this shows that your course is very much a Calculus course, though I am not sure of the depth of the coverage. How about confirming with Admissions people?

how are everybodys essays coming along? i have serious work to do weekend.

I'm having nightmares with Sloan's essays. I think the Cover Letter, 1 and 2 are ok. However, 3 and 4 suck big time. I also think my supplemental info essay is good.

Will have to work a lot this weekend...

I am so unhappy with my MIT essays at this time. Out of the 3 apps I have worked on until now, this is my worst package, by far.

Cover Letter:B-
Impact:C
Defend:C
Challenging Interaction:A-
Execute Plan:C

I have the overwhelming urge to just give up on any more edits and hit the submit button :-(

Any one else in my titanic?

So you aren't applying to the E&I program? I thought that was an obvious choice for you.

Yes, it is. But, the program is still not mature. And I dont have the time to work on an additional essay. If by some miracle, I get in, then I will pursue the E&I after I have a chance to check it out from close.

dabots, I am sure mNeo is correct. If you are applying to E&I, you should write an additional essay about "a time when you shared expertise with a group" or something similar.

Well, except for writing another complex essay.

I've only had a cursory look at the MIT essays, and they seem so tough. First, you have to come up with very specific stories for each essay without stepping over other essays, and then you have to ensure that such stories define you enough. Well, the good news is that you have another 2 weeks to refine and then refine some more.
