GmatPrep taking it multiple times - accuracy of score

I have taken the gmat prep test 1 and test 2 about 4x each. I get a few repeats on the q and v, but I keep getting new questions.

I am wondering how many times can you take these gmatprep tests before the accuracy of the score goes down.

I have gone from 590 to 620 to 640 and to 680 most recently. I am not sure if it is me improving, but I am not sure if it is me doing better overall or that I am getting a few repeats and I answer them correctly.

I never scored about a 650 on the gmatpreps and ended up with a 640 on the real time, but I am doing a retake soon and I don't want to be too overconfident on the real thing.

By the 3rd or 4th time, I'd say that GMATprep will probably overestimate your score by 30-60 points because of repeat questions, improved efficiency and so forth. This is especially true if you are scoring in the same general range. If your score range changes a lot, then you'll see fewer repeats.

I would strongly recommend taking different tests, because your GMATPrep scores are not going to be reliable after even one retake. What other tests have you taken? I would do the Princeton Review tests. So far for me, they've been closest to GMATPrep.

I have read taking different tests isn't all that accurate.

With Gmatprep I didn't really have that many repeats. About 2-3 on the verbal and 2-3 on the quant. It is actually pretty good about giving you different RC passages and gmatprep seems to remember what questions it gave you.

I am just doing challenges math and working thru the SC 1000. I think that I am absorbing and learning from my mistakes, so I can only hope I get a higher score on my retake.

Great post. I am experiencing the same thing with GMAT Prep. I have not seen many repeating problems.
