I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate. Have been in the IT industry throughout. Have extensively worked with global clients and my skills are Project Management. Also, I am a certified PMP. Have participated in SEI-CMM Level 4 and Level 5 organization wide certifications.
One of the most recent roles, am managing a project where my team is re-writing the entire banking and social security system of a country.

Honestly, I see two things that will likely keep you out of a top-ten school. First, your GMAT score is lower than the middle-80% range for the top schools. While we urge applicants to not overy focus on the GMAT, your score is low enough right now that it could keep you out. Second, there are a ton of applicants coming from India with technical backgrounds, and your profile will have a hard time standing out from the pack. What you'll need to do to set yourself apart is show real community involvement or other things outside of work that will differentiate you from similar applicants.

Good luck,

Thanks Scott!

Would you say the same about schools like Georgetown, Smith etc?

How would lower rung schools take me?

Yeah, I think that the same things would pretty much apply to lower-ranked schools. They may have lower mean GMAT scores, but your biggest challenge will still be separating yourself from similar applicants. If I were you I'd spend more time on that than anything else.

I agree with what was said before - the GMAT appears low even for the higher range of near elite schools.

While a high GMAT or GPA is not a sufficient condition for admission, scores at the far left tail of the distribution are unlikely to improve one's chances of admission.

However, this score would probably be competitve toward the mid-range of the near elite at schools such as Wisconsin and Case Western.

Best,
