I should have posted this earlier, but I guess it is better late than never... Attached is a list of HBS interview questions that have been posted in various places on the internet. Hopefully it helps you prepare and get a grasp of what types of question HBS asks.

Thanks forcefeed, kudos!

Btw, did you think that your interview was the one that seals the deal with your HBS admit?

Because the case method relies so heavily on student discussion, HBS places a lot of weight on the interview. I believe that everyone that is interviewed has what it takes to succeed at Harvard (and so do a lot of people that do not get an invite), and the interview is probably one of the last data points used to distinguish amongst similar candidates.

Hey team: the HBS Director's Blog says most interview invites will be sent out my "mid-February". Even though I've received interview invites from Wharton and Stanford, I'd really like one more to solidy my chances of at least one admit. At what point do you get worried that mid-February is here? Has anyone else received an invite recently or know if most invites are coming out this week or next?!

Thanks.

Re: Calling all the Harvard Gurus - Fall'08 [#permalink]
Hi everyone,

Had my HBS interview this week. Was very similar to previous interview experiences with the sole exception that the questions we much more tailored to my personal background and application. No big surprises though. Was not an abrasive interview at all - my interviewer was very nice. Questions were fairly straightforward - focused on me explaining some of my reasoning to decisions I've made (why did I choose my job, my majors, what do you think about this topic, what is the most meaningful trip you've been on, whats your greatest development need, etc.). Closest thing to an "out of left field" question was "What was the last book you've read?" Probably, given my science/economics background, wanted to make sure I had a softer side as well.

Interview was on-campus, and as expected the interview held to their 30 minute time line.

I think it went well - but as with any b-school interview, you never know, and you never know what they're looking for. The waiting game continues - I'll know what HBS thinks on March 26th.

my friend who is graduating from HBS this year also got the "what was the last book you read?" question during his interview. ironically, given his 100+ hr work weeks at an investment bank, he admitted that he hadn't read a book since he graduated! i really wouldn't suggest this answer, but it didn't seem to hurt his interview.

Not good news:

Round 2 Update
By: Dee Leopold, Managing Director Admissions and Financial Aid
Date: February 19, 2008
Topic: Round 2 Update

We are about 4 weeks from Round Two notification date on March 26. Members of the Admissions Board are getting ready to travel to Europe, Asia, and the West Coast to conduct interviews.

While interview invitations will continue to be issued up until notification date, it is fair to say that the vast majority have been sent. I hope that this measure of transparency is helpful.

Some Round Two applicants — both those who have been interviewed and those who haven't — will be invited to join the wait list on March 26.

Round One applicants on the wait list will continue to receive periodic updates from the Admissions Office.

You can't discredit him for his honesty, but I'm amazed that he wouldn't have just said some book that he had read in the past and was able to talk about in depth if necessary!

Don't want to count chickens before they hatch - but need to know from a planning perspective vis a vis my trip. Anyone know when HBS's second round admit weekend is?

Hey nyrberg,

Sorry for bursting the bubble here but I actually received my invite pretty early on (Late Jan), just that I didn't discover this website till before my interview. And since this is "the friendlier forum", just thought I'll add my name and join the community! :) Good luck!
