bee and columbia, thanks so much for the encouraging words!
The support means a lot!!!

I got back from my interview sometime back. I will post a debrief in a couple of days as I am traveling to India tomorrow and have a ton of things to take care of before that.

Just wondering, does anyone know the stats for people that apply R3 for Harvard? I know that it's much much harder than the other 2 rounds, but I have a 90% completed application that I was trying to get ready for R2 and couldn't make it.

I wasn't. I long ago gave up on HBS.

what? 12 days left? are they really still sending out invites? i have assumed that i am dinged at every school i have not yet heard from (H / S), with the exception of columbia, which has a super lame application process that is hard to predict.

speaking of harvard, does anyone know if this year's b-school applicantions were part of the data lost to hackers? the article i read indicated that the info. stolen was from grad apps to the college of arts and sciences, but it did not appear as though the reporter, nor harvard was fully aware of the extent of the hacking (no mention of the b-school). apparently the server was not encrypted, making it easy to hack. way to eff up harvard -- you have the largest university endowment in the world and you can't even bother to protect your applicants.

I have also done my interview with a super nice & friendly adcom.
I tried not to think about how I did on the interview, because it's been bugging my mind all the time.. All those self doubts have kicked in..

I don't think this year's applicants will be affected. My girlfriend is currently a first year in the biology PhD program and she received notice about this. It specifically stated applicants for the 2007-2008 school-year were affected. It seems that it is specific to the arts/sciences school, but it also mentioned the hacker having access to GMAT scores, so maybe the business school was also hit. Either way, you're fine.

On a related nerve-racking note, a Harvard grad student (dept of classics) was killed yesterday when crossing a street in Central Square. A big rig driver didn't see him in the intersection (drivers always whip around this turn without looking...really pisses me off). Very sad. :(

Just signed up for my HBS class visit! Very exciting.

Anyone else disappointed that they don't give you a copy of the case in advance? The email also said that I'm not supposed to participate. What if they cold call on me? Sure would be nice to have read the case in that instance!

The class visit is actually a pretty formal process. A student brings you to class and you're introduced as a visitor. So, no worries about cold calling :)

And they clap for you :-D I really enjoyed visiting Harvard. Unfortunately, they appeared to not have really enjoyed my app.

That makes it less stressful I guess. Still, it'd be cool to have the opportunity to participate.

They clap? Maybe it's a consolation of sorts: "Everyone, please meet rca215, who is joining us today as a visitor. This will be his first and last time ever in an HBS classroom."
