I am gonna get on the waitlist...But matriculating at Wharton. Who knows? My friend got off both the Stan AND HBS waitlists last year (but that was a much better year)

elhajoui smart decision. Wharton is a great school and next year will probably be even tougher to get in to any of the top schools. Plus going this year means you will graduate one year sooner thus can start working your way up that much quicker. If you are heading back to your company post MBA then the difference between Wharton and Stanford probably wont impact your career at all.

Still best of luck with the WL.

elhajoui, congrats on your decision...looks like Stanford is virtually impossible to get into, I'm starting to reconsider applying next year!

OK, got about ten seconds to write this...

I'm stunned. You all had amazing profiles, I have no idea what's going on. I really am sorry... I'll write more later.

Tough luck guys (and gals), I was hoping at least one of you get admitted to Stanford in R2. We can officially call stanford the most selective bschool in the world.

Dinged. No interview. No surprise. Who does Stan admit these days??? :)

terry12 - Congrats again. It's truly an amazing achievement to gain admit from Stan.
To those on the waitlist - Best of luck guys.

This officially ends my MBA quest. I am heading to Philly!!! :-D

Instead of being a means to an end, getting into stanford has almost become as big an achievement as the end itself. exceptionally selective. i wonder who they admit and what they look for in someone that makes them want the person. sorry about the dings guys. I understand how painful it is. I am still not over my dings, hence i havent been posting much. But i just had to say that you must make informed decisions. What ever you decide would be for better though. Good luck !

sorry to hear that BCC.

I'm wondering who they admit (other than terry, of course ) these days. At least we have one insider this year, so we can see what's going on and what superhuman powers all Stanford students have. :P

Thanks kry ... I don't feel hurt at all though since I already have admits and my heart is already with Wharton. :-D

For what it's worth, I chose Wharton because ...

My older brother is studying at Kellogg, so I figure I would expand my (our) network by going to W. Although K has better network here in Thailand, my goal is rather Asia so I think I will have an edge in terms of brand recognition. In addition, since I cannot go to the admit weekends for both schools (costs & timing issues), the next best thing I could do is to meet up with the fellow admits here. So I went to a dinner meeting in Bangkok where I met all the R1 Thai admits from both schools. Judging from that, I feel I will at least 'fit' better with my future Thai classmates at W. There is really nothing wrong with the K people since my opinion is highly subjective and I know I cannot go wrong with either choice, but that was just how I felt. So W for me.

Have you made your decision yet or is it too early to ask? :-D

terry12: admitted

Dinged with interview. Blech. Haven't posted anywhere for a bit...feeling too damn sorry for myself. Have one app left to UCLA, R3, but not holding my breath. I guess the universe has decided I don't need business school! Am moving rapidly forward with shooting my screenplay myself. Will keep you all posted on my progress - look for me in the "Off Topic" forum. Many, many thanks to all of you for all of your support and encouragement during the past year - you are all amazing folk, and I send all of you my heartfelt best wishes for future success in all of your endeavors. You deserve it!
Cheers,
Uphill

BCC, your logic makes a lot of sense. I'm sure you'll have a great time at Wharton, it's a great school! :) As for me, it's too early to ask. Based on paper stuff, Haas is leading. Now what's left is the interactions with admitted students and the admit weekend. But thanks for asking, I will update everyone when I make my decision. :)

LOL! that's actually very funny! Yet sad... :( I do want to say that I really appreciate terry12's attitude with all this, with us joking about him (in a good way) all the time as the only admit. I'll be the first to apologize if we're ribbing you too much terry, just let us know. You know we all love ya and are envious of your achievements, right?

Well, the good news is that they interviewed a LOT more people in R2... the bad news is, NO ONE got in????? Sigh.

Great, now I'm depressed :( . I still have no idea why we didn't get more gmatclubbers through.

Kry- No apologies needed! I know it's all in fun. I'm just hoping some folks get off the WL.

Navy01- Ah yes, I'm looking forward to FOAM (as clarification, I think it's dedicated to Arjay Miller, former Ford president and GSB dean).
I had no idea sorority girls joined in the festivities!
Hmmm... I'm not going to say anything else, lest I get in trouble :-D
