Calling all MIT Sloan 2008 applicants

Thought I'd do a quick write up of my interview. I am still in shock that I was the only gmatclub interview this round. Very odd, and I am feeling the pressure to save us from a shutout.

An extremely friendly and jocular Adcom met me in the hotel lobby. First thing he said (after joking about bringing bad weather to LA) is that he thinks traditional interviews are boring (he said he ends up daydreaming about the beach), so he was just going to have a casual conversation and get a feel for me as a person. Now while lots of interviewers say that, he actually meant it. The interview ended up running well over an hour with only a couple of set questions (the rest were probing follow-ups), lots of laughing, and a surprising amount of selling of MIT from him. It was clear that he was very interested in me as a person and had zero interest in canned stories. He also drilled down for lots of specifics with each question (as previous interviewees had mentioned he would). There was no "Why MIT?" or "Why MBA?" so I had to try to fit it in throughout.

While we definitely connected, it was also clear he had some reservations about my candidacy that he came in looking to address. Specifically, the fact that I am an older candidate who has stayed at one company (gotten two degrees from the same local university) and have been limited by the lack of advancement opportunities inherent in IT. As he said, "it appears I have stayed in a bubble". I did the best to explain the thought process behind my career choices but also mentioned that in hindsight I probably should have moved on earlier. Who knows if it adequately addressed his concerns (or made them worse!)

Here are the questions:

1) Why did you choose your current job? What are your current responsibilities? etc. (drilled down for 30 minutes pushing for very specific answers)
2) What do you do outside of work?
3) What is one thing you wish I had asked you?
4) What is one thing you are glad I didn't ask? (tough question!)
5) Do you have any questions for me? (he showed lots of passion for MIT and this line of questioning went on for 30 minutes).

I honestly have no idea if I will get in (though I definitely connected with the interviewer and thought he was a great guy). However, I am done making predictions, I am currently in at my worst interview (Ross), dinged at my best (Haas), and waitlisted at my second best (Kellogg). It all feels like a crapshoot to me at this point.
