dabots, were you there at the DC event? I was and it was nice to meet up with a bunch of new admits. The new admits were the most excited and active group at the event. Frankly, DC doesn't seem to have a active alumni association, and quite a few of the alumni attendees were part-timers.

The admits obviously were excited about GSB and quite a few of them had to make a choice between GSB and another M7. (notably Kellogg and Sloan). I know this is a sample biased towards GSB, but what I really liked was the reasons the admits were picking GSB. (intellectually challenging, better academics and smarter students(?))..there were a couple of undergrads from UChicago going back, and they were really high on GSB. Another thing I noticed was that a huge number had consulting/strategy as their post-MBA goals. there is hardly anybody interested in finance...Wonder if this is how it is, and the new students get drawn into finance once they start at GSB??

PM sent.

Are you going to the GSB Global Leadership Series event tomorrow? I was planning to attend this, but seems like I will have to skip it. To much of an effort to drive up from Richmond. I also can't make the thursday happy hour. Will be on my flight to Chicago for the admits weekends....

It might be for her. I think they were doing some kind of partner admit packet too.

I haven't seen much discussion about R3 admissions, but for what it's worth I just checked my app status (for the 370th time) and saw "invite to interview." :-D And now I can tackle Rhyme's interview guide with purpose a whole week before mid-decision!

Congrats wedbud. Good luck with the interview! Work through Rhyme's guide and you should ace the interview.

wedbud.. On a side note, have you heard much about other round 3 invite to interviews? What is the last date in R3 to schedule an interview.

Actually, I hadn't heard anything, anywhere on any R3 info. I didn't even hear of anyone else applying then until I went to GSB Live last Friday.

Looks like interviews run from Monday 4/23 through Friday 5/2.

Some problems with visa - I should have applied earlier to get it done before the weekend. Now I plan to come to Chico in early August. We will have the get-together party, anyway.

By the way, will anybody take the pre-MBA stats and accounting?

I won't take the stats, actually I'm planning to take the Applied Regression Analysis class (the "second level" for stats). I was thinking about the accounting but as it will clash with the Random Walk, I won't take it.

sure.

Its just not worth it. There will be lots of other people with minimal stats or accounting backgrounds and plenty of people with 0 background in both. Yes, you might have a tiny marginal leg up on the competition if you take one of the courses, but -- while you are in class trying to understand debits and credits, your potential friends are out by the lake making bonds and friendships.

I just wouldn't bother. Enjoy the time off. Relax. Go make friends. Tan. Sleep. Etc. You wont be alone in seeing new material, and, at least at the GSB anyway, odds are, those who think statistics is a joke won't be in your class anyway (they'll be in regressions).
