Hi Linda-
Can you give me any insight into applying to Dartmouth's Tuck school of management?
I've got a campus visit scheduled for September so I'm sure I'll learn a bunch then. And the website has been quite helpful in giving me a basic overview of the school and its various programs.
Anything else you can add that may help me in understanding more about Tuck? I have heard from multiple sources that Tuck has an uncanny ability of picking out "those who reeeeally want to go to Tuck" vs. other applicants, and base their decisions primarily on this, but again this is heresay.
Any insight you can provide that could assist in my application preparation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I think your visit to Tuck will tell you much more than I can in a short forum post. But first, kudos to you for taking the trip to Hanover. Your trip is a concrete demonstration of serious and sincere interest that Tuck appreciates.
When I visited Tuck I asked what is a typical day for a students. The answer: there is no such thing. You see faculty cooperation is such that if operations management needs more time one day or one week, the other professors will adjust and either skip a class or shorten. And then next week, they will adjust again so that marketing or accounting gets the time it needs.
There is also tremendous emphasis on the inter-relationships between different functional areas of business.
Finally, Tuck is proud of its small size, strong sense of community, and teaching quality.
Good luck!
