Does anyone think that the 2nd essay is MUCH easier for someone who is a team lead or manager? I mean 2B seems relatively easy for someone with that experience. For the rest of us it seems much more difficult.

I'm one of those who found it easier - I manage 4 analysts, and lead teams of 8-15 people in size. When I looked at the two essay options, I immediately thought 2B (making a decision against popular opinion) would be easier. That being said, I think the essay would have to demonstrate in a fairly compelling manner why that decision was tough for the individual and the situation - after all, it's part of the job of being a team lead to tackle difficult decisions and sometimes go against popular opinion...

So yes, it's easier to come up with examples to 2B but harder to demonstrate why it's a outside the norm for what a lead/manager should normally do.

Just my $.02!
Cheers,
ac.

I was thinking of answering second question with a life decision made against popular opinion. The impact of the decision has been both personal and on career.

Now that student hosted event is coming up, let's see who all from GMATCLUB are going to be there. I will start with myself.

Darn - I will be in Chicago that day but do not think I can attend because of a company event. I see it starts at 6:30 PM, what time do they usually go until?

Screw your company event. Who wants to hang out with a bunch of overweight and over the hill farts while they complain about their arthritis? Come hang out with us. Punk.

(note, they usually go to 8.30, but it can vary a lot)

LOL rhyme. I knew you were going to say exactly something like that. Unfortunately, they will know Im missing if I don't go - my company is pretty small. The only thing is it starts at 7:00 PM, so Im thinking I could go in at 7:30 PM and no one would notice I'm late. But would 45 minutes at the GSB event between 6:30 PM and 7:15 or so be worth the while?

Trying to motivate myself towards an MBA :-)

BTW, Rhyme, I have a friend who plans to apply to GSB and wants to be at the event. I see that the registration for the event is full. Are you guys going to be strict about pre-registration?

No worries, he can definitely come. I expect a few people who RSVP will be no shows anyway.

You know why your company is small? Because your sales force is made up of old people who go to dinner at 7pm and then go to bed!!!!

Just tell them that you've got a GREAT sales lead and you are meeting with some "potentially high net worth individuals interested in business", and "golly gee, I'd love to come to dinner but I think this is great opportunity for us, would it be alright if I did that instead?" and when you come back, just tell them that you are waiting to hear back. By the time you get back to the office, everyone will have forgotten about it anyway.

Or... depending on how things go, the event might last a few hours... maybe after dinner is an option to?

Have you actually tried to fill it out? When I click "proceed" after the contact info screen nothing happens. I think they may have released it before it was finished.
