thanks,

They are actually inside the application, downloads section I believe. I also attached it to this email.

Re: Calling Chicago GSB Applicants for 2009 [#permalink]
will be on campus for the gsb live on the 26th... any tips??

aslo, i'm a reapplicant. applied last year for the round2...
on further analysis, i noticed, that last year i had not visited the campus, or gotten in touch with anyone at the campus... couple of my other friends were going through the same process, and i stayed updated through them.. Point being - i did not put my name out there...

also, i dont have extra-curricular after under-grad. during under-grad, i was very active - president of an org, senate member, SAC member... is there anyway i can address this??? my time since then has been busy with working (since i'm a contractor)...

does gsb view job jumping as negative??? due to being a contractor, i've worked for 5 companies in the last 5 years!!!

great academics - 3.9 gpa, 720 gmat...

can anyone give some suggestions..

I'm there! booked my ticket and found a place to stay and everything. Except I'll be staying in the city of north chicago. That's gonna be some train ride.

Out of all the recruiting events, this one sounds by far the most interesting.

Anyways can confirm that even is held "Harper Center" and that is in Downtown?

I went to GSB Live last year and it is definitely a great event. It is held at the Harper Center, but it isn't downtown. It's in South Chicago on the University of Chicago campus.

The address is:

5807 South Woodlawn Avenue

Yeah Harper Center is the famous GSB building where FT classes are held.

Gleacher Center is the one downtown where PT classes (and maybe exec MBA classes) are held.

Harper center is in Hyde park, not downtown. The downtown campus is called Gleacher.

The only real advice I have is to make sure you make something of your time there. Talk to students, approach people and get a feel for the school. Similar to how hanging out at a bar and waiting for a girl to talk to you doesn't usually work, just hanging out on campus and waiting for a student to come talk to you is unlikely to get you a lot of conversations going. Be proactive, ask the tough questions and meet people. Make sure you plan to stay for LPF at 4:30, free booze and free food (although, as its the first Friday of school, there may not be an LPF that week).

After whole weekend and 2 lines of outcome, I must say that I don't like Chicago's essays ;-). Kellogg went smoothly and here I struggle so much.

For example, how did you approach essay 1? I read few analyses of GSB essays and they all recommend different approaches. One says to treat it as career essay, other recommends presenting 2-3 events, etc. Besides, how did you justify that NOW is the right moment? To be honest, if I wait 1-2 yrs it would be ok as well ;-).

Hey I'll be going to "Chicago Live" the 26th, staying over the weekend. I am not trying to turn this forum into Craigslist, but have everyone already found hotel rooms close by? Last time i checked rates are >$150 for Chi-town. Anyone want to split the cost of hotel? I have a car.

Let me know.

Also does anyone know if it's worth visiting Kellogg on a Saturday when everything is closed??
I have not been on that campus before. Do you know if the builds are locked?

I went to a Saturday info session last year. It's not very helpful since you can't sit in on a class, but if this will be your only opportunity to visit then I would suggest going and signing in to show interest.

yea, but no one calls it that. Everyone just says LPF since that sounds less lame.

out of curiosity, once the year gets underway, do most students attend LPF? When I visited they said attendance was highest at the beginning of the year when everyone was new/had more time...

cheers,
ac.

Hmmm... maybe... but its not really noticeable. I go to pretty much every LPF (I've had a tendency to pick Friday classes), and I'd say there are always at least 200 people. There might be more earlier in the year, but I've never really noticed.
