ASX has banned ALL short selling. <sarcasm>It will prevent volatility</sarcasm>

Tax loss harvesting my entire taxable portfolio, not much else I can do.

When will the powers that be realize that short-selling is not what's causing this! They've put thousands of stocks on the "no-short" list and still the broad market tanks 8% in one day!

Despite a "total ban" on short selling the ASX still falls 4.5% at open. Regulators eat your heart out. But no one has actually questioned them about it yet

The IBOVESPA (major Brazilian Index) went down 9% today

That summed up with the R$/USD movement is TERRIBLE:

(This is not too liquid, but I couldn't find a good English page with the future within the Brazilian local market)

It was something around 15% in USD, the Worst day I had ever seen, circuit break was activated today in Sao Paulo, and Companies such as Petrobras and Vale do Rio Doce plummeted. Our president and economy minister though, insist that the crisis is only in the USA, and that everything is fine there. I'm sick and tired of that.


By the way, can the VIX get to 100%???

Hang Seng (Hong Kong) climbed yesterday when most other exchanges went down due to announcements about suspension of short selling.
