so out of curiosity, how many are responding to 3: Discuss how you have engaged with a community or organization.?

are you speaking only about one experience? about several?

cheers,

i'm responding to this one in regards to how i have engaged with my employer beyond my regular day job. in my intro paragraph i'm covering various volunteering i have done at work, then focusing the meat of the essay on my experience leading an employee group of recent college graduates. my biggest challenge (no surprise) is covering everything in 400 words.

I'm responding to question #3. I'm writing about my work with one specific organization and more specifically, a project I undertook with it.

One of my HBS recommenders (an alum) phoned me this morning to tell me that he will only be able to post his reco this upcoming weekend (the deadline is Wednesday).

Does anyone know if Harvard has a bit of flex in accepting recos after the deadline? Should I be worried?

P.

From what I understand, they won't be flexible in this regard, but I'm not 100% sure. Sorry to hear it. Maybe give them a call to ask, especially if there are some special circumstances causing the delay.

He submitted this morning. Phew!

I have chosen to address undergraduate experience and career vision in my optional essays

Good for you...that could have been a nightmare.

I'm doing organization and career vision. Out of curiousity, what do you write about for undergrad experience and how long ago did you do your undergrad?

I imagine the majority of people, or at least those >2 years out of school, did "engaged community/organization" and "career vision".

That's what I did.

-1 point for originality. :x

I'm doing area of the world and career vision. =)

Anyone else still working on their app? I'm planning on submitting tomorrow afternoon... is it possible I get shut out of the system due to massive amounts of people accessing the site? If so, I can just pull an all-nighter tonight and submit tonight. What do you guys think?

thanks all who responded about question 3 and the community question. I was getting stuck in my essay, and considering using two examples. Then i realized i just had not put in sufficient detail about how I engaged with the community aspect of it. phew!

I graduated in 2006.

I chose to talk about my experience as an international student in a business case competition.

I will submit tomorrow morning CET time, the Americans should be still sleeping and the site accessible...

I just submitted for R1 today. Hopefully my last two recommenders will make the deadline. (One is working on it as we speak, the other said he started and has almost finished).

edit: both of my last two recs got theirs in ~4pm today :)

I guess I'm in for round I.

Hi,

Can some one tell me if applynow sends an email to the applicant when the application status changes from received to complete?

Thanks
