Oh yeah. Interview invites have started. I forgot that in amongst the application volume red herring.

How dare you keep such important information a secret!?!? (kidding, of course)

Do you know if we can expect invites to continue through the holidays or does the Adcom take some time off?

Beyond standard holidays, I expect it will keep on. It is kind of a world to itself compared to the academic calendar (plus faculty work through and have pretty standard leave outside of research).

Remember, it is very early days, so don't stress. Just because the movement has started, it doesn't mean anything on your application. That goes for all schools really - admissions offices are not operations students - too many variables for it to work.

Just got the interview invite!!!

Sumitted app on Oct 25th-ish....

Then I realized....the cold hard fact that if I DO END UP IN STERN for Fall 2009 admission, I would be forking over quarter of million dollars to this school for both my BS and MBA degree.....

Now I am having mixed feelings....hmmm

Hey guys,

I was the one who posted on BW. The invite showed up yesterday evening between 5 and 6 pm. I submitted on the last day, so I'm not sure what that says about their "rolling" process.

Good luck to you guys.

Congrats liquidice! Can someone update the stats on the front page with this info? You'll have to keep us posted on how it goes.

And congrats to you ninkorn!

I know that NYU's interviews are a bit different from some other schools in that they specifically aren't blind. I assume there will be the usual questions, but also a few tailored to each applicant? 3underscore - any insight?

There are a lot of variables at play that mean anything can happen. I think given historic numbers you can safely assume there will be over 1,000 files floating around right now, being reviewed. So many things can influence whether your file is complete, gets reviewed quickly, gets held up or whatever. I am not really certain how a "rolling" process can be completely put in place. I guess the idea is that the earlier you submit, the more likely your file is complete for the beginning of the review process, so may get a status update earlier.

Interviews. Man, that was a long time ago. It is designed to build upon the application, so will not go over the same things and will try to build a fuller profile. Read your app before you go - it is bad if they know your app better than you (and they will know it). I think that there are a few behavioral like questions - it is the personal fit section of the application, so tries to round out the picture. Oh, it will almost certainly be with an AdCom.

ninkorn - surely your boss knows you applied to Stern, right? Or did you steer around the current supervisor issue?

Feel free to let me know when you are here, by the way. There is a fair chance I may be about (well, except January, when I am doing the MBA2 "travel while you can" stuff)

In my profession, I don't really have a boss. I have different partners that I report to based on my client/assignment.

I just asked rec letters from my previous partners when i worked in taxation. Now I am in info systems auditing...so my current partners have no clue that I am thinking about going back to school. LOL

Done!

ninkorn and liquidice, considering Stern will interview approximately 1 in 5 applicants, consider this to be an extremely positive development!

Brings me back to my days in big 4 accounting! I'm assuming you're staffed on a project, otherwise I would suggest you "work from home" for the day. 8-)

Don't worry. They started sending out interview invites. You will get one shortly.

To be honest, I think they only gave me invite because I am alumni. They just wanna make sure we are in good terms when they want to ask me for money later when I am rich....
