Re: Calling Chicago (Booth) Applicants for 2009 [#permalink]
Does anyone know if the exchange programs are dual degrees? I am interested in the LBS exchange and was wondering if it is a dual degree and how competitive it is to get into.

Kwam, Rythm - do you know how the process works for the international exchanges?

Thanks!

As for the powerpoint, that's your chance to let your personality show. My application had essays about running my own company and my values--the slides were a chance to SHOW it. I seperated my slides into professional acclaim (headshot with quotes from professional reviews of my work) , professional travel (American map with collage of pictures filling it in along with a few notable cities marked) , values (environmentalism-creative, drawn piece) , and personal (photo of my wedding and dogs).

I wanted then to get a really good feel for all of my personality. I think the most important thing is that the FEEL of the slides be really genuine. Any of your close friends should be able to look at a huge stack of slides and KnOW which one is yours. As long as it's a genuine expression of yourself, you can't go wrong. Dont get too heady about it. That's what the GMAT was for. :)

I believe it is not a dual degree. As far as I know: You apply to the program, I think there's an essay or two you need to write, you list your top 2 or 3 choices for the exchange and then you find out what you got a few weeks later.

more choice....previously you had to choose 4 out of 6 areas for breadth and 2 general management requirements
now you have to choose 6 out of 7 breadth areas which include general management requirements.

It is very subtle, but take a look at both and you will see what I mean.

It's not a dual degree, it's a quarter at another school. You can get the IMBA - International MBA degree - or "just" have a quarter at the schools listed at the webpage: https://www.chicagogsb.edu/fulltime/acad ... index.aspx

Some schools are more competitive than others, I'm not sure about LBS though as I was thinking about South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore, but I'm changing my mind to make the whole course in Chicago as I would pay the same $5k per class and some people told me that education is not at the same level in some places - I wouldn't be worried with LBS though.

Rhyme, Kwam - thanks for the clarification on the international exchange. I am very interested in LBS and IIM as well. I am not sure which one I would choose. Let's see, I am sure that I will change my mind multiple times.

I have a list of Extracurriculars and I realized that the question was to "Describe" EC/community activities. Is there a word limit. Pls. let me know.

I don't think there's a stated word limit on that. I just did a list with dates and details--sort of in outline format. I didn't spend much time thinking about the format. It was less than 300 words, but then some people here are more accomplished in that area. :)

Where did you hear that? I was under the impression fellowship decisions were not released until the end of February.
