Re: International Applicants [#permalink]
Agreed! It depends on the country u r applying from. If u apply from a coutry in eastern europe, and u meet all basic requirements such as 3.3+ GPA, a 700+ GMAT, u r almost guaranteed an admit from a top 10 school. On the other hand, if u r an Indian (IT or otherwise), its an uphill task. As an example, Darden last year received a total of approximately 2700 applications out of which 700 apps were from Indian applicants. The class size at Darden is 333. Somebody correct me if i m wrong, but i dont see a possibility of Darden accepting any more than 33 Indian applicants.

Some Rough Calulations (assuming a yield of 49% for the entire applicant pool)

Acceptance Rate for Indian Applicants - 67/700 = 9.5%
Acceptance Rate for all others - 612/2000 = 30.5%

The odds of getting selected are lower if u r a male. and lower still if u r from IT. I think its safe to assume that its the same case accross all top schools.

It really depends on where you are from and what group you get categorized in. If you come from a super competitive group (Indian IT) you face a huge challenge. If you are from a country that doesn't send too many strong competitive applicants, you will have a far easier time.
