Thoughts????

I'd interview. I am in a similar position. I am probably going to stay on UCLA waitlist to see if I get offered alittle bit of scholarship money. If not...I'll be in Michigan.

The worse they can do is not let you in.

Go for it, what do you have to lose? Besides, winters in Ithaca are pretty rough...

I got an invite on 2/13 and scheduled through the online system. However, my app status hasn't been updated on the Application website or Check Status website.

The invite was a real surprise considering I'm a re-app and I thought this wasn't my best application this year. Anyways, wish me luck. I scheduled the interview for early March.

Had my interview two days ago with a current student. It was...brief--30 minutes, give or take a couple ticks of the clock. Very friendly & engaging with some honest answers. Went to a class prior to my interview and, following the interview, met with a student from a club I am interested in. Being from CA, I'm not as awestruck by the weather as you who hail from colder climes, but it was in the low 70s and super sunny. Just sayin'. All in all, impressed and will hopefully hear (good news) soon.

You may be the only one from R1 who has (or plans to) accept at UCLA :-D

Oh no, that's not what I meant. I think UCLA is an excellent program and has probably some of the best faculty, better than alot of top10 programs. What I meant is that people who were admitted in R1 were also admitted to other top 10 schools and chose to go elsewhere lured by historical facts about strength of certain specialty areas, overall national (or even international) reputation, and probably outdated salary figures. With this glooming economy on the horizon, I suspect the difference in value of an mba from a top school vs a 2nd-tier one will shorten in the next couple of years as starting mbas from top 10 schools have been notoriously overpaid recently and companies simply can't afford to do that any more.

I know I'll probably get lashed for those comments but really unless you are rich or get some sort of substantial fellowship, going in massive amounts of debt to attend an expensive top school seems like a very very risky strategy to me these days.

according to Andrea on the businessweek forums, the bulk of invites have been sent with a few more left.

she did, however, re-emphasize that you can be placed on the WL without an interview.

i'm also waiting...g'luck!
