Hi there, I am going to apply this year (for 2010 class) MBA. It would be great if you can give some feedback on my profile. That will help me putting the "right" stuff in my essays and resume.
1) demographic info: 28/Male/Indian
2) Educational Background: Graduated with a Bachelor of Technology(4 yrs course) in Computer Science from a State College (its not very well known). I passed with 77% aggregate which is First Class with Honors in the grading system we had in college (and generally all across India). If translated to GPA style, it turns out to be 2.7 (which I know is very less).I am still thinking of how to tell colleges I am applying, the difference between GPA and grading style used in most of the colleges in India.
My GMAT score was 700 (Q-50, V-37, AWA-6.0) .
3) Work experience: I have almost 5.5 years of experience in computer Industry. I am working as a Programmer Analyst (its equivalent to Senior Software engineer designation) in an Indian based Software Firm (its a multinational firm and has a solid reputation in India and abroad). Out of these 5 years, I have spent working with clients in UK and Australia for almost 2 years. My current role involves working as an interface between the Clients and the team at offshore. Also, I am working on multiple projects at the same time where I am providing technology consulting on a product I have worked on.
4) Extracurriculars: I don't have lot of extra-curricular going for me except that I am good at sports like Table Tennis and Volley Ball. I was the college champ in TT and was the captain of the Volley ball team. Though at a smaller level, I won Lawn Tennis championship at my town level (when I was in school). I don't know whether these things will count. The only extra thing I have done which I think will seriously count is my involvement with my school. Whenever I visit my town, I go and talk to the students and address there queries, mostly about what to do after school, and what option do they have once they graduate with a degree in Technology or Medical science. I talk to teachers on how to make things better (for example one of the thing I am working on is to get a website working for my school that might help the school get students from far away places)
5) Short/Long term goals: I want to join a Strategy Consulting firm (McKinsey to be precise) after my MBA, work there for 5 years and gain enough experience to start my own McKinsey (its a Long, rather Very Long term goal
) after that.
6) Schools: I have applied at Booth, Columbia, LBS and Stanford. I am planning to apply to few other colleges but not decided yet. Please suggest if you see a school fit for my kind of profile.
Thanks for reading it through.
