SolarMBA, you're on top of the news! The best thing about Haas is due to the small class size and very responsive staff (and DEAN!), things happen fast here. Some of the changes we've heard (but not all confirmed):

- New 70 person state of the art classroom (in the news)
- Courtyard cafe style a la Strada Cafe (or think Borders with its cafe)
- Curriculum changes, which may start with your class, but be complete with Class of 2012. The current students are putting a lot of input and feedback to make the experience for the Class of 2011 even better!
- Hiring of some great professors, up to 11 by the end of next year, in some cases taking them back from the schools that "stole" them away.
- Center for Teaching Excellence formed to make the teaching quality more consistently higher
- Doubling of IBD in 2 years (in the news), right now they take 80 people, probably up to 100 or 120 next year, and then to 160.
- Adding in a capstone project (in the news) at the end of the 2 years, starting with Class of 2011
- Potentially adding a new wing which will add 3 or 4 more of those 70-person classrooms. This probably won't happen for 3-5 years.

Let me know if you have any other questions. This will be very exciting!

Just wanted to post an update..

R1 Applicant here. Re-Waitlisted as per the May 15 update. Any admits/rejects ?

Kryzak,

Any information on the size of the waitlist ? At this point it looks like it depends on someone giving up their admit for the waitlisters to get a chance. Is that a fair assumption to make ?

Since R4 deadlines are next Tuesday, I would venture to guess that at this point it would probably have to take someone refusing the admit for the waitlist to move.

It's all about the "first mover advantage". They didn't teach you that at Kellogg?

But yeah, looks like people are already thinking about next year.

not much to update at the moment, but the tuition hike should end after this coming year. Well, it'll still go up, but just the same amount as other schools. I think Haas has finally caught up to other private and public Bschools out there in terms of tuition.

For in-state students, 32k/year still seems pretty sweet deal relative to other top bschools. :-D Its almost like getting a $25k grant.

Count me in! I visited in the spring and loved it. The students I talked to really sealed the deal for me with the passion that they displayed for the program. Visiting Haas really helped narrow my post MBA focus as I think I've decided I really want to do business development or general management in the digital media/internet/emerging tech realm.

copy and pasted from other thread... Quick summary of myself... Took the GMAT in December and got a 740 although I would have preferred a higher quant score than my 47. I was pleased that my overall got me in range of the schools I'm focused on though. Undergrad at a large state school with a well regarded electrical engineering program. I do pretty hardcore engineering work now but would like to move out of that. I'm worried about my undergrad GPA of 3.1 although I did have a better last 2 years. My gpa included D's in two classes as well so I may have to write an alternate essay to explain that.

Got the ding early in the morning today. So ends my love story with Haas for 2009. Will surely re-apply next year.

R1 Candidate, waitlisted till R4 and finally dinged. So so close... :(

I guess people still on the waitlist stand a really good chance of getting in once seats are made available. Good Luck to Class of 2011.

I'm starting my apps for Haas. Is there any value in visiting Haas during the summer (end july) or should I just wait for August 31st?

If it makes sense, I would love to incorporate the experience of my visit to Haas in my essays, and July would give me more time for this.

Unfortunately, no one will be around in the summer. Well, some of us are, but it'll probably be on a one-by-one appointment basis based on people's availability. At the end of August, we'll be in session and the formal program starts first week of September, where you can do class visit, lunch with students, and infosession, as well as have 1-on-1 meetings. I would recommend that.

The deadline isn't until end of October/early November, so you have a lot of time to incorporate some visit stuff in the essays that are relevant. :)
