Although there is no issue about the OA, still I’m surprised at the logic of the explanation. If 'trying to defend' is awkward and try to attempt to defend is too wordy, why do we even have to say as in E – body to try to defend-- when we can simply say ---body to defend – or even – body defend--.

C Vs E : C is wrong because of wrong verbs "harm". for the subject 'A Virus', harms should be used.
