Yeah, 44 is a 70th percentile on Quant and some times it shows the disparity in your Q and V scores. One in 70th and one in 99th percentile. It is said that many schools would like to see a 80/80 minimum on both sections. If you haven taken much time to prepare for Quant thinking that your engineering background will carry you through, then this must be a surprise. But thats very common for folks with engineering back ground such as myself and yourself. I graduated from Grad school 7 years ago and the way the Quant questions are, a very good test taker is error prone.

But the good thing is you hit a home run on V. Given that you have a Engineering background and that you are already at 44, one month solid work will get you past 49 easily and you are looking at 760. If you have the time and will, go for it. Take a look at the median and 80% mean scores of the schools you want to get into. If you are above by 10-20 points, then most probably GMAT scores are in place and will not contribute to an eventual ding. Some thing else should, if it were to happen.

Thanks. Yeah that kaplan score was right. I just looked at it again. ran off 14 of the first 15 than got this brutal RC passage that I missed 3 of 4 on. Finished strong with 12 of the last 14. Looking back at it, of the 9 I missed, 7 were RC. Reading them again I'm still not sure what they were saying, even with the explanation :)

Didn't intend to make it sound like I didn't study, I probably spent 50+ hours in the two weeks before the test. Also spent 10-15 in the 3 weeks before that reviewing high school math. I appear to have had the most trouble with the DS questions and getting bogged down on the math - forced me to have to rush through some to catch up.
