710 - but not like everyone else.....

Took the GMAT this morning and results (710 Q44 V44) are good I think. However, looking at the other scores posted, I couldn't find anyone else with identical quant and verbal scores. All the higher overall scores seem to be correlated with higher quant scores. Odd thing is I have an engineering degree. Not sure what this means when I actually apply. I do have pretty substantial and varied work experience.

Only decided to take the GMAT about 6 weeks ago, and really was only able to study hard for the last two weeks. I actually made a decision to concentrate more on verbal - based on the assumption that my engineering degree would carry the day on the quant side. I should have factored in that I graduated 14 years ago. My practice tests were somewhat similar:

GMATprep1 (10 days prior) 700 q44 v41
Kaplan CAT4 (2 days prior) 680 q39 v51
GMATprep2 (1 day prior) 720 q44 v44

I liked the Kaplan premier live online 2010 book/internet stuff for studying over the OG12. But it's hard to argue with using the OG questions and the GMATprep software based on my scores.

First impulse is that with some effort I should really be able to improve my quant score, on the other hand, I don't really have any interest in taking the test again. I also have no intention of applying to Stanford.
