First of all let me start by saying that this forum is just absolutely great. Thanks to everyone who shares their tips and advice!
I am in the process of applying to schools in R2. Below is a summary of my profile:-
1. GMAT- 740 (Q 50, V 40). 2nd attempt
2. Indian national. Done my university in top Singapore univ under scholarship. Major in engineering & minor in business. Graduated First Class (don't have a GPA score but equivalent to summa cum laude)
3. Management associate at top bank with experience largely in product mgmt, biz development & marketing. 3.5 yrs of work ex currently.
4. Strong extra-curriculars in univ- biz plan competitions, univ debater, club president etc. At work- Organized a number of bankwide events for a year. Involved in community activities.
Career plan- work in consulting in medium term, eventually starting my own venture.
I am planning to apply to these schools currently:-
Wharton, Booth, Columbia, Kellogg, Tuck, Haas, Ross
(Don't want to go to LBS & Insead, only US schools!)
I am not applying to HBS (since I feel I don't have too much of a chance) and Stanford (low acceptance rates).
Would appreciate if someone could help me on these Q's:-
a) Given my profile, how many of the top schools should I apply to have at least a 80-90% chance of getting into one of them? Is 4-5 usually enough or is the ideal number 6-7?
b) If the answer to (a) is more than 4, I would like to know which schools to apply to outside of Wharton, Booth, Columbia & Kellogg?
Thanks a lot.
