Re: Calling all NYU Fall 2010 applicants [#permalink]
I am in for RD 2.

Visiting Stern on Monday for the class visit, coffee with a student and information session. Very happy this is in ther afternoon too since I am going to the Giants game Sunday.

Any current students have any advice for me while I am on the visit?

Perhaps chance your arm at contacting people in the Media Entertainments Sports Assocation (MESA) or other clubs you are interested in. The clubs are well tied in to the school, so officers are well known, and it shows a level of interest and pursuit beyond the items that are typically catered to students.

Not that it is critical - I never visited Stern before my interview. Just that this can help. Ask any questions you might have of the Graduate Ambassadors as well - just drop in to Admissions in the afternoon and ask to speak to one. I would give you a name, but I think it is unfair to set someone up like that (plus they might not be working).

For Essay #1 - how did you guys format it? Did you split your answer into parts 1) 2) 3) or did you just put it into one entire essay, but without the breaks.

Personally, for me, breaking it out like that loses the transition of the story, but who cares what I think anyway.

I broke mine out. I found that the essay presented more clearly like that.

Me too - I just wrote as one entire essay, without breaking up or labeling the different parts.

I actually asked this question during the information tour. They pretty much said they don't care. You can go whichever way is best for your essay.

Does anyone know how NYU is running the interview selection process? The message boards seem very quiet, albeit a few random invites here and there. Will most be extended in January, or should we expect it to pick-up in the next 2 weeks prior to the holidays?

I'm no expert, but I am under the impression that some interview invites would trickle out before Christmas and that many would come in January. I believe that's what happened last year, although I don't know if last year there were any invites that were QUITE as early as they were this year.

also--i got my interview invite via email + through the status check website. they were updated within like 15 min of each other. if you're a woman, note that they will probably give you the chance to do the stern women in business conference interview option in feb and it doesn't say anything about that on the status check website, only in the email.

Congratulations LB20!!

It seems like last year, at least on this forum, the first interview invite went out on Dec.3. But this year, we have already had quite a few interview invites, including one on Nov.24!!!

I got an email with a link to the interview scheduler in it. Also, I just logged into the Status Check website and it's been updated there as well.
