Re: Where should i start? [#permalink]
Hi everyone,
I'm also new to this gmat thing...
I need to take gmat in order to study business in U.S.A. starting September 2010.
I searched a few places and this site looks one of the best to start for. Now I will check other pages to get an idea about where I should be starting from..

Regarding GMAT, I don't feel one needs to join a coaching institute. I prepared and scored well all by myself. But there are few others on this forum who have been benefited by a coaching institute. It all depends from person to person.

I would suggest you start preparing on your own, go through some of the GMAT debriefs, threads posted by bb, and make sure you maintain an error log. (Assuming you are from India) GMAT is easier as compared to other entrance tests like IIM CAT, IIT JEE etc. In case of GMAT you need to devote 3-4 months and you are done. But on the flip side, the preparation needs a different approach. I have seen people scoring well in IIM CAT, but hit badly in GMAT.

Regarding Applications, there are whole set of different consultants who helps in essay preparation etc. To take a service from a consultant or not is again a personal choice.
Some reputed consultants are associated with GMATClub as well. You can post your queries to them in the below forum:

For ISB, you can drop your queries to below thread, answered by ISB consultant:
