Does anyone know if scholarship decisions are made at the same time you receive your admission decision? Or is that decision given at some point afterwards?

Scholarship info comes in the official acceptance letter in the mail, but not in the online "letter" of acceptance. I got the official mail letter over Christmas, not sure exactly when, but about a week after I got the online letter.

Anyone know Stern's thoughts on the word limits? My second essay is at 533 right now and it'll be a pain in the ass to cut it down since it has already been proofread by 3 people.

I don't know what Stern's thoughts are on limits, but I found it really helpful to read my essay backwards sentence by sentence and I found words to cut then.

During a school visit, I asked the same question and was told by an adcom member that stern is stricter than other schools vis-a-vis limits. I kept all my essays within 1% of the limits -- a few words here and there are immaterial. 33 words is over 6.6%. I say bring it down to 515 or so. That's not as hard as 500.

Thanks I am going to have 2 more people ready my essays and hopefully they can cut out some worthless stuff. As much as I enjoyed the 3rd essay, I was not a fan of what seems like 50 questions packed into one essay.

essay 2 is a community essay - the school, the clubs, the academics. What pushes your buttons that the school has, and you want to be involved in. The more career path linked and contribution / community based it is, the better it will work. It is just a "show you have done your homework on us" essay more than anything - that you have thought about why you want to be at Stern.

From that, the actual questions become irrelevant.

Hi everyone,

Are any prospective or admitted students planning on attending the MESA event in LA on Thursday? I am just gauging the opportunity to meet fellow possible Stern peers.

I remember your interview debrief now. Based on what you wrote, thought your interview went pretty well. That sucks man. I feel your pain...
