Now the consortium has 3 Top 10 schools, and literally every single school from 10 to 20, except for Duke. I'm still not sure why Duke isn't in the Consortium when they compete very heavily against the consortium. A lot of the admits there were choosing between Consortium fellowships and Duke.
Nor am I. Duke's tuition deposit is due before most - if not all - of the CGSM schools'. I would think that their membership in CGSM would be contingent on them "playing nice" with the other CGSM schools and pushing their decision date back a month. I wonder if that has anything to do with them not being in the Consortium? [WILD SPECULATION ALERT!]
I did meet a number of students at Michigan's admit weekend who had to drop $1,500 to Fuqua without even knowing if they were going to commit just because they didn't want to count Duke out before attending their other admit weekends.
(UCLA is not in the Consortium right now either, btw, though I thought they were!)
Duke's Admit weekend was filled with Ross Consortium Admits. I was included in that bunch too I guess.
I don't really know what Duke's "problem" is. Not only are they not in the consortium, but through out scholarship money to steal consortium fellows away, but they absolutely refuse to give extensions on their decisions. While I really do like and respect their program, they almost seem like a spoiled kid who is mad their not in the Top 10. I think they feel they should be more prestigious than they are, so they act it even though they haven't truly earned it yet. Little things like this will always keep their yield low (a lot lower than their peers).
But ... I want to a Duke ACC rival school ... so maybe I'm biased.
Also, I always get UCLA and USC mixed up.
