Thanks for the info!
I 100% agree with you about the CR on the MGMAT CATs. I always did well on CR and yet I kept having problems with the MGMAT CR. I finally gave up on them after my wife, who got 99th percentile on the LSAT, agreed with me that their logic was faulty and ambiguous.

By the way, your really low Knewton diagnostic test score makes me believe that they purposely make the diagnostic test VERY HARD so that even if you took the actual GMAT the next day, you would be over the 50 point difference. I guess the best way to utilize Knewton is to take the GMAT once, and then use the actual GMAT as your base score, rather than relying on their diagnostic test

I think I had this conversation with someone else before too. Basically we agreed that the diagnostic is really hard and thought they probably did that on purpose. I also think it'll benefit people who are scoring very close to 700 to make the 50 point guarantee worthwhile. I still believe there are valuable takeaways from the course but I'm speaking purely from the money back guarantee point of view.

Thanks, very motivating. I realized I haven't made a lot of improvements because I don't have a Harvard picture in front of me :P

I'm aiming for an online master in science, I want to improve my current score (640) but I don't really need to. It's only a pride thing. I budgeted 5 months of study beginning in january (I don't intend to take vacations to study), but I only seen the books, nothing serious.

Hopefully, reading about your experience motivates me to finally get on track.

I wish success in your application.

jasolorzanor - good luck in your studies!

imdeepak - yes I only studied for a month but keep in mind that I had the month to do nothing except study. So it's definitely hard work, not genius :) You can achieve the same in ~3 months or so with a full time job if you make the commitment.

Thanks to the others for your support and well wishes!

Congrats on a great score!

Would you have any advise about the essay portions, and how I can prepare for those?

I plan to prep for a month myself using the MGMAT books and then register for their course to learn more strategies. Hopefully that's a good plan.

Thanks!

Hi Preeti,
here you go how-to-get-6-0-awa-my-guide-64327.html
This is undoubtedly the best post for AWA essays.

MGMAT books are good for self preparation. But you should give one diagnostic test, as you should your weak areas and start off with them. Do not forget to keep error logs and do OG12 , Og verbal2/quant 2 & Gmatprep.

For CR section powerscore CR is better than MGMAT CR.

Very good debrief. I found it very useful and inspiring. I myself have 680(Q50, V32) a month back and trying to get back to write a second time.

Good luck for your application process and keep us all updated on how it goes. What schools are you aiming at?

Awesome score man!!

Just a couple of quickfire questions about the verbal section - did you manage to complete the verbal section in time considering you were on Ques 20 with just 25 mins left!? Was it because you faced RC questions early on during the test and may be that took major chunk of your time? How many questions on an average were you getting wrong in the verbal section when you did GMATprep ...just want to know how many questions is one supposed to do right to get a verbal score like that!

Thanks and all the very best for your future!!

Best Regards
Vivek
