Dear achellappa,

The GMAT is just one of the sub-criterion under the Analytical Horsepower criterion for ISB admissions. All of us know that it is the entire profile that counts. However, there are relative weights attached to all of these criteria based on the kind of profile a candidate has.

Re: Calling ISB 2012 Applicants - Let's Roll [#permalink]
Hey Friends,

Count me in as well. I shall be appearing for the R1 of ISB. Am yet to appear for the GMAT though.

I am a computer science graduate with average acads. I however joined my family business after my grad . I have been into my family business since the last 7 years.
I have heard alot about the Wadhwani Centre for Entrepreneurship at ISB and learnt that its a great platform for people with their own business background like me.

I am however confused about the scores that a applicant like me should target ? I regularly score around in the late 600s in my mocks. Will that be sufficient ???

Regards,

Manish

Dear ManishS,

ISB would be interested in a profile like that of yours. And yes, the WCED is a great platform for budding entrepreneurs. The flagship Entrepreneurship Development Initiative (EDI) program started by WCED in 2009 has incubated 14 ventures by ISB alums. The support given by the school is really commendable.

As for the GMAT score try to get it above t least 650.

Dear sag,

WCED stands for Wadhwani Center for Entrepreneurship Development, a center specifically devoted to developing entrepreneurs. It runs to following types of programs:
1. EDI (Mentioned Already)
2. Growth Initiatives - Students help SME to improve performance. They are small time consulting projects and a great value ad for students.
3. Formation of industrial policies for AP.
4. Revival of sick industries
5. Start up forums
...and many more...

It's an exciting place.

To be very clear the WCED has nothing to do with placements. There is a separate division called the Career Advancement Services (CAS) that will deal with placements.

For more info please visit: https://www.isb.edu/entrepreneurship//

Hope this helps,

Dear Manish,

That percentage has always been less than 10%.

Hi All,
Welcome on board. It seems we have quite a good number of people from different backgrounds. Feel free to shoot in any of your queries.

@Arjun, though IT sector is one of the most competitive sector (largest number of application comes from this sector), but on a positive note the highest number of students in a batch is also from IT sector. Make sure you highlight your achievements and extracurricular well. This can distinguish you from other candidates.

Btw, I'm also from IT sector and am keeping my fingers crossed for this year application. :P

Hi Guys ,

Ny idea how the evaluation thing works , it is somewhere mentioned that they will do a verification of the evaluator , anyone knows is the kind of verification that would be done and approximately how much time it would take for ISB to send the evaluation link to the evaluator ?

Thanks !

count me in!!!applying in Round 1....

i had a few doubts though...
1.Regarding the specialization...How does one specialize in any of the fields..i.e. Finance , Marketing , Sales...Is that taken care of once one chooses out of the Core and the electives??...
Quoting from the below link:
https://www.isb.edu/PGP/Curriculum.Shtml
"To specialize in one area, a student has to take a minimum of six electives from that area. Students can choose a maximum of two specializations. You also have the option of enrolling in 2 additional electives."
2. Is the work experience counted till the date of application or date of acceptance/admission/matriculation?
