Hi guys...
Just gave my GMAT today scored a
610.Q40 v34.
All this after 2 months of preparation ..quant was my strength how ever messed it with time management as i lost precious time with some problems around the 20-25 which were too long to work out..At last had to work the last 8 problems in less than 10 mins which must have lead to my quant score..verbal section started with really tough economics passages..then some bold face CRs...then it was pretty easy..finished verbal section with 15 mins to spare...
A little background information..I am Mechanical engineer with 1.5 years of work experience as a design engineer. While in college I worked part time as a trainee design engineer for 2 years...all this work experience is not high tech firms but medium level companies. In 10th scored 82% and 12th scored 80%...during college had some arrears..
Gmat test preparation.
I used the
OG 12 ,kaplan books and some stuff i downloaded from internet..
Used a lot of practice cats from gmatprep and 800 score and other kaplan tests.
I was never good in geometry and in my actual Gmat got just one from geometry.i guess got a lot of DS questions..
Test day
I had scheduled my exam at 13.00 so reached the centre around 12.20 and was happy to see around 7-8 candidates waiting to take the test with me...we were given the systems a little late because the previous guys completed late..so I started my test around 13.15 only...the AWA essays were nt that bad...but i had trouble typing on the keyboard because it was very short for me..
During my first break had a Snickers and half of gatorade...then tried the quant section..went pretty good at the beginning but messed the time management and it costed me dear in the end..
Then again took my second break and had another snickers and emptied the gatorade..Was kinda hungry because i was starving during the test and it helped me boost my moral as i wanted to get my hands on the snickers bar during the second break...the verbal section was not bad..i enjoyed the RCs which were my strong points and i was weak in SCs...but was really good...
I enjoyed taking the exam...it was real fun..
A little tip for those who are yet to take the gmat...
1.get your fundamentals strong in quant.
2.relax the day before the exam and dont touch your book it will help you on the day of the exam...
3.think that the gmat is just another cat your taking back home...this will change the whole experience...
I am happy to say this I enjoyed taking the exam..it was real fun..helped me focus better without any tension..
My main query to all GMAT wizards here...
I am planning to apply for MS programs in HRM
I have a keen eye on MAYS -TAMU...will this score be enough to crack it or should i retake Gmat...Please help me out am confused
....
