Not a success story yet...
I did not go to school directly after high school and began to work full-time. I started taking night classes at a community college and eventually finished my degree from a somewhat respected state school this summer.
Technically, I have a GPA of 3.4 upon graduation (obviously, not low) and a GPA of 3.1 from the community college (not a big deal). However, since I worked full-time (and didn't care about school at all until the last year), I have a LOT of Withdrawals, D's, and F's. I retook one course 3 times since I got too busy with work to finish it every other time I took it. Hopefully this isn't a killer for me and my GMAT (760) cancels some of it out.
I mentioned my focus on work in my "additional information" section (work actually paid for my college). I had a GPA of 3.8 in my final 10 classes, so that should help. Applying to HBS, Wharton, Kellogg, Yale, and Boston University. We'll see!
