Thank you - I have embedded the videos and tweaked the formatting a bit (feel free to modify as you wish; just was trying to help)

Rid,

Excellent post, thank you. I just took GMAT and now I only have 3 weeks to prepare for the TOEFL (November 06). Some questions about the TOEFL:
- Like most of the students, my problem with the TOEFL is the Speaking and writing sections.
- I like the idea of using templates for both sections of the test, but is it feasible to write the template on the noteboard before the begining of the speaking section? Can I write the templante on the noteboard during the break? Or during another section (reading, for example)?
- Do these templates can result in a 29/30 score?
- I saw somewhere in the forum someone who mentioned a structure from ETS for the first writing exercise. Do you know if it is close to the model you provided?
-Is there a list of examples for the independent writing task (for the gmat the GMAC provide a pdf with a lot of examples).

Thanks again for your help!

I suggest you to visit these threads:

During the exam you can try to write the templates before the speaking section starts, during the end of the break (but the guy controlling the room may tell you to stop writing) or quickly before each question starts. However, I suggest you to learn it by heart so you fully concentrate in searching ideas to fill the blanks.

If I remember your notes after the listening section are collected. They will give you new paper during the break.

The templates will help you to have a structure for your answer. It will definitely give you points. However, everything will depend on your ability to find ideas during the preparation time for the first questions, and on your ability to remember what you just listened and noted from the questions you listen a dialogue before answering, and how you speak about them.

Not sure what you mean. Anyway I think the writing template fits the actual ETS writing questions.

I found this https://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/TOEFL/pdf/989563wt.pdf

Good luck!

In one of these videos, the teacher mentions that for an essay score 30 it must have more than 450 words. Do you know if there are a word cont during the essay?

Yes there are word counts in both essays.

According to ETS, you are expected to write 150-225 words in the first task and 300-350 in the second. You can write more if you wish.

I came across with this post yesterday and thank god I did since it is very very helpful.
It gives you a very good idea of what you should do and what you should aim for. Keeps you focused on the question and that is what matters.

Thanks for that :)

On the initial post question 5 and 6 of the Speaking section are missing, I have searched on youtube and have found the following links:

Question 5: watch?v=O2dU1JqlWS0

Question 6: watch?v=sf3yr-EoUQI

Resh, may I suggest you add these links to the original post?

Thanks

note: I am not allowed to post urls for now but if you go to youtube website and copy/paste the terminations I give to your browser should work just fine

To all,

I have used these videos as a guide and got 113 (speaking 26 and writing 28), which met my aspirations. :)

I didn't follow word by word the suggestions but it is without a doubt a very good help.
Not only it helps you on the structure of the answer but it also teaches you on what to focus while listening and reading the question.

Indeed a very good post.

Thanks
