Hello, not sure if this is the right place to post, so please advise otherwise.

I was wondering if anyone could share their G-DAY scratch pad strategy. That is, what are the most common things that people write down on a scratch pad for reference?

I tried searching the forum, but other than a few hits, there wasn't anything that really outlined what I was looking for. I'm looking for some guidance in this area from the group.

Marty, are you talking about writing down tricky formula/rules in the scratch pad just before the start of the actual GMAT exam. In one of the post, I read that someone actually did just that. Would be interesting to know if this is legal and allowed in every test center or is something discretionary.

Coming to your question of the most common things -- well I guess it would vary depending on ones strength and weakness in the different Verbal/Math section. Just my opinion but am open to comments from other members as well.

^^^^that should be ok, I did that.

I write down ABCDE for verbal questions and cancel out as I go so I don't wast time reading an answer that I cancelled out already.

Yes, I wanted to hear how people used the scratch pad to write things down in advance of starting a section. It's true, I wonder if it is allowed or not...I'd hate to waste my time writing something only for it to be taken away.

I use the scratch pad in "landscape mode" and cut the pages in half. I simply write my time table on the back of the first page and refer to it from time to time.

Padawan - What do you mean by time table? Like an allocation of what question you should be in by the time you reach x minutes? Can you post the table here? :) (I usually don't have trouble with finishing questions. My problem is the exact opposite - I finish too fast)

Here it is:

Time | Question
---------------
60 | 8
45 | 16
30 | 24
15 | 32
00 | 37/41


So instead of looking at which question I am and figuring out whether I am running late or fast, I simply check from time to time the clock and when it reaches one of the milestone times (which I know are multiples of 15), I can quickly scan my table and adapt my pace accordingly.

I learned that from MGMAT and it works really well.
