HKUST 2011-2012 - Calling All Applicants

I received an interview invitation as well... having my Skype interview tomorrow!

I booked my Skype interview for Monday, Nov 29 (which is actually Sunday night here). Good luck iceinjan!

I applied on 15th. Havent yet received an interview call.. still hopeful though!
I visited their campus in september and had a meeting with admissions counseller.. when i told them I got 690 on my GMAT she seemed quite surprised and said thats high!!

Really? I got a 660 and they were like, "hmm maybe you should prepare to take it again"....

haha, glad i am in the middle, not low, not high. Anyway, i guess they are sending invites to North A first, which is a little bit piss me off. So far havn't heard anyone from other geo locations got interview invite.

ok roll call updated. I am in NA so i HOPE HK doesnt celebrate turkey day so i will be on the lookout for possible invites....

Got an interview call!
Anyone already given it or giving it soon?

I had my two Skype interviews 2 evenings ago. I found it quite stressful, being as there are so many elements (like the connectivity!) beyond my control. I set up my computer elevated on a pile of books, put up a backdrop and moved a lot of lighting into the area to make it seem more professional.

I spoke with an accounting professor in addition to the Associate Director of the MBA Program. Both were really nice. The professor was an Aussie! Overall they asked the questions you would expect: why now, why HKUST, what do you bring to the table. The Asso. Dir. asked more in-depth questions on my work experience. They also both asked what other schools I was applying to, and why. Overall I think my interviews went well, at least I hope! I feel like they are moving quite quickly and might even know a yay/nay by Xmas!

any technical questions relating to your work ex or qualifications?

Well, I am not really a 'technical' person, but the Asso. Dir. did ask questions like, how did you do this? What methodology do you use? Do you use external/3rd party data? I was quite surprised by these, but since they are just questions about my work, they were easy to answer.

I believe the same people interviewed me like in NYCgirl's case. 2 calls. Both were very friendly and did not create the feeling of an interrogation.

No. 1 (prof): Why MBA and why HKUST? What do you expect to contribute to the community? What do you expect from your student colleagues? Very comfortable talk.
No. 2 (AD): The "experience" was very similar to the first interview, but the questions were more customized to my CV. In fact, I found this interview harder.

might seem like a stupid question.. but how do they get ur CV? Do we have to send it to them? Cos we dont upload it or give it to them anywhere!

I'm sorry shaselai have you reached out to someone personally? I met one of their ambassadors at a NYC MBA fair, and I think that is why I may have been expedited-- they probably recognized my name.

Their event calendar hasn't been updated for Dec., but if I'd keep an eye on it, esp since their calendar says for Round 1 that they still do interviews through Jan and acceptances in Feb... don't lose hope!!

nycgirl, i am in contact with an ambassador through emails but she said she's not involved in application stuff since it is unethical. She told me pretty much mid Dec or bust... My app status still "under review" and i emailed hkust about what exactly that means - they reviewing it now or on queue or even if it was reviewed still "under review"?
