Hi,
I am new on this forum, but have gone through various discussions being posted on this site.
I was able to find few links and help for speaking and writing through the postings.
However, i am a bit concerned about my RC and Lecture listening skills.Though i can infer what is being said and
what is being read, but when it comes to actual questions i can't corelate them with passage or lectures.
I am using Kaplans book and few online sites for my preparation.I have a week's time for my Toefl exam and need some help from the experienced one's.
It would appreciable,if the members who have already taken the test, highligh more and share their views on the strategies being used.
Thanks in Anticipation....
Hi ToeflMember,
This is an unique problem that you have posted. Just to let you know, from what I have gathered about TOEFL from personal experience and posts in this forum, TOEFL listening and RC sections do NOT pose indirect questions that would need really hard and long thinking. For eg, if they say "... the hen lays 2 eggs every year..." then they won't ask you "How many members will the hen family have after 3 years?". A more probable question would be " What is the number of eggs that the hen lays?" It is similar for both sections. So as long as you understand what is being spoken about and the RC passages, I don't think there would be a problem.Additionally, for RC, you'll be able to refer to the passage for every question.
